The Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission (Tobacco Commission) established a program in 2002 to offer assistance with a bachelor’s degree and, therefore, strengthen the economies of Southwest (SW) and Southern Virginia (SV) through education and training of its citizens. For the 2018-2019 academic year, new recipients will be applying for a loan with terms offered to earn forgiveness after graduation. Please click on “Program Information” above to learn more. Residents of SW (brown) or SV (blue) localities enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program at an accredited 4-year college or university, in-state or out-of-state, can submit an application. Residents of counties shaded in yellow are not eligible to apply.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Because extra funds remain after 2018-2019 awards were made, our application portal will re-open Monday, September 17, 2018 at 10 a.m. for new applications to be submitted or for students to finish their incomplete 2018-2019 applications. Returning students should click "Login" in the top ribbon to apply. New applicants click anywhere on the map to get started. Then, submit required documents. DO NOT APPLY AT THIS TIME IF YOU ARE STILL ATTENDING HIGH SCHOOL.
