Tobacco Region Scholarship Program
The Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission (Tobacco Commission) established a Bachelor's Degree scholarship program in 2002 to strengthen the economies of Southwest (SW) and Southside (SS) Virginia through education and training of its citizens. The 2016-2017 Tobacco Region Scholarship Program provides assistance with tuition for eligible students who live in one of the SW (Brown) localities or SS (Blue) localities and who are enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program at an accredited 4-year college or university, whether public or private, in-state or out-of-state.  Residents of the counties shaded in yellow are not eligible to apply for assistance through the Tobacco Region Scholarship Program.

Tentative opening date to submit 2017-2018 online applications is March 6, 2017.  The criteria for this program will be changing with the 2017-2018 academic year.  More information will be provided soon.  To receive notifications about the program, please click the “NOTIFY ME” tab above and register your email address.

All 2016-17 Tobacco Region Scholarship award recipients have been notified by email. Colleges/universities will invoice this office after their last published add/drop date.  Fall semester payments are made during September/October, and Spring semester payments are made during February/March.
